Abstract Impressionism in Photography by Julius Reque

As an artist, I strive to make photography personal. I admire good photos and photographers, but those that put their own mark in their passion are the ones that I remember most. I am learning techniques that go beyond the traditional "point and shoot", and this gallery is a growing collection of photos that represent non-traditional methods, specifically expressing the lyrical and thoughtful qualities common to 19th-century impressionist art movement. These abstract / semi-abstract non-composite images focus on the subjects’ essence rather than the details - they emphasize motion, texture, vibrant opaque colors and light, and sometimes unusual visual angles. The textures (“brushstrokes”), colors, and composition are enhanced by movement, long exposures, and digital correction.
