These photographs were taken in different parts of the US and Canada with a DSLR using an IR720 Infrared filter. Everyday objects reflect infrared in proportions that differ sharply from that of visible light. Digital camera sensors have unique sensitivity to infrared filters and because of that the tonal relationships are wildly unexpected and give subjects an exotic, grainy look. Post processing is required digitally and usually produces a bluish hue. For the most part, I use a tinting effect that resembles early 20th century hand-painted photographs, which results in an otherworldly landscape that provokes a sense of nostalgia.
